Precious

This is my latest absolute favourite word. It's English teacher approved, solely on the basis that it's much more powerful than "nice", and it's just a nice word in general. Sometimes we take the things and people we have for granted, and disregard them, or we have felt useless due to the treatment we've received, or the societal pressure. In case you haven't heard this today: you are precious. And so are these other things...

1. Your opinions.
It's easy to feel like your verdict doesn't matter, particularly in a large group of people, as sometimes people genuinely don't hear what you said. If it's continuous, and you may as well talk to a brick wall, then find some new friends. No one should have the power to make your opinion feel worthless. Your opinion is precious. I appreciate what you have to say.

2. Your effort.*
I have to admit that I fall easily into the, "Well what's the point in trying because I'm not getting anywhere!" mindset. Effort pays off, however. At least, most of the time. Even when it doesn't, your effort is worthy. It is valuable and it will always count. The determination to do your best is enough.

3. Your experiences.
Ya-di-da, there's a plan for you. Your experiences, whether positive or negative or unforgettable, have shaped you into who you are today. They're scalpels making you into who you're supposed to be. They are precious; no two people will experience the same life event in the same way.

4. Dogs.
If you disagree then I will fight you.

5. Your presence.
At times, it may feel that you could fade into the soil and no one would notice. But, have you thought about the opinions that would go unshared? Or the effort that may remain lacking in a project? Or the experiences you'll never get to share, and their subsequent lessons you want to teach? What about the dogs there are to pet? You matter. You're so precious. The world needs you.

Take care.
